Nellieeee. I've opened up a thread on "The other children of King George & Queen Mary". Wouldn't you contribute with those promised Prince John pics? (grin)

The title refers to the other thread, one for David, Prince of Wales.

They're both photo-centric threads, not exposition threads where people write gobs about the topic, so no Spanish fluency is required. :thumbup:

Thank you Maravilha for the invitation to join the new thread.

I should explain that I am feeling way out of my depth in any language other than my first one.
I now know very keenly how so many posters feel, when they use the English language boards I enjoy so much, when those posters don't have English as their first language.

But pics can bridge so many distances.

Regarding Prince John, I prefer to have a thread in English because I am convinced that the widely held views of his life are not close enough to the truth.
To be able to discuss the points would matter to me.
Patience please, and I will get to it one day.

One of the few instances I've seen where the notable height difference between the Queen and King is not that evident. Although she pooh-poohed suggestions that she was taller than the King (I believe she said without her hat, she was smaller), I think that smells of diplomatic porkies.

She was a good inch taller, if not more. Look at the CHIN HEIGHT DIFFERENCE.

Not only was Queen Mary genuinely fond of her granddaughter, Lilibet, she was exceedingly proud of her bearing and future position as sovereign, too.

The feelings towards the younger Princess Margaret Rose, as she was then, were a little more complex. Queen Mary was amused by her witticisms, saying the French had the perfect word for her sense of humour -- "espiègle" (sort of like court jester), but she was much more remote from her emotionally.

Princess Margaret later had unkind things to say about dear grannie. Starting by the fact that her stomach went all wobbly when she had to greet her august grandmother; as well as saying she was never shy around men! Going all out to charm them and everything. Queen Mary the flirt! :surprised: :-D
