I think for princess Beatrice it is definitely not her. The only woman who comes to my mind for the one next to Alfonso is Alice Athlone... and for Lord Ramsay you are right, bien vu.
Both women next to Queen Mary are not familiar for me.

Oh, duh. How stupid of me. That's Alice Athlone, looking quite young, but it's discernibly her. Nice one, Sabba.

I'm pretty sure the last lady is "Louie" looking like she's watching paint dry (grin) , but I'm not sure about the lady next to Lord Athlone. Maybe it's Princess Louise, Queen Vic's daughter.

EDIT: I think I'm going to win the Turnip-of-The-Week Award. It's Marie-Louise's elder sister, Princess Helena-Victoria, the Snipe...just goes to show, when it doubt, go for the most obvious.

SABBA! You're a genius! How on earth did you do this? I've been looking up a programme to "rip" this video for Dinastias for hours, now.

You're awesome.

Haha. I was for hours too trying to make it in a slow motion movie. But I couldn't do it. (grin)

The clarity is great!

I love how you can see Queen Mary clapping her hands now -- well, if you can call what she does "clapping". A very queenly, restrained gesture of tapping one hand on the other hand's knuckles. OH, gloved hands, of course. (grin)

Her granddaughter obviously inherited May's "naughty smile", as Sabba calls it.

The Queen, at home.

the woman next to alfonso (to me) is Alice of Athlone.

Talking about May..a few months ago a buy a couple of prints of her in a nursery room. She looks quite unpleasant to pose next to a kid

Almost the same picture on LIFE.

About her collection of bibelots I am not sure but I think she used to collect jade. Is that right...?
I'm sure Nellie knows it. (wink)

In brief: three clappings. (grin)

Jade pieces and Fabergé eggs, yes. You can see some of the eggs in the vitrine. She also collected snuff boxes, and the like. Bibelots is really the right word for it, though chinoiserie is what she used herself, specifically.

Nellie can correct me if I'm wrong, but she used to have a jade piece in Buckingham Palace which was called "The Nodding Chinaman" by her children and staff. It was a stand composed of several jade Chinese "heads", something like 4 or 5 of them, which she would set off by tapping on their heads, as she passed by. This insignificant little gesture, repeated daily many times, gave her inordinate pleasure. She must've had that satisfied little smile you can see, in the Corbis photos. (grin)

Oh, and if Nellie is reading this, I think I found the reference for the "Queen Mary was daunted by telephones" question, mentioned by Nellie earlier in the thread.

Check out the book by Anne Edwards. It's there. And also, if memory serves, I believe Lady Airlie mentioned it in her autobiography.

P.S.: Nice kiddie photos, Katyusha!
